Donut Connection

The story of Donut Connection begins in the 1970s with the opening of a Mister Donut franchise in Old Brooklyn, Ohio. The store was immediately successful, and soon the owners began opening new stores and assuming ownership of other Mister Donut locations. After the acquisition of Mister Donut by Allied-Lyons in 1990, all Mister Donut locations within North America were encouraged to become Dunkin' Donuts franchisees, subject to Dunkin' Donuts' royalties and regulations. Over 200 Mister Donut owners chose instead to form a cooperative known as Donut Connection that would enable them to retain their independence while continuing to receive bulk pricing on materials. We met recently with President Doug Trowbridge and Vice-President Cindy Shalala, and listened as they described Donut Connection's offerings;

Donut Connection is home to over fifty varieties of the delicious fresh donuts, donut holes, fresh-baked muffins, mouth watering cookies, chewy bagels and the world's freshest coffee. We are family-owned and operated and place a high emphasis on consistency, quality, and a fair price. As a family business, we treat our employees like family, also. Many of them have been with us for over twenty years. We are proud not only to be part of the local community, but also of the part we play in helping the local economy. We also offer great discounts to church's, schools, and other organizations on large orders.

We offer a wide assortment of Party Trays, including Breakfast Platters, Dessert Platters, Assorted Cookie Trays, Assorted Donut Platters, and Assorted Donut Hole Platters. We also sell our popular decaffeinated and dark roast coffee, ground and whole bean, by the pound. At our 29603 Lorain Road location we use 4,500 pounds of flour every week to produce 65,000 donuts which are distributed throughout the Cleveland community.

We are proud of the interaction between our employees and customers. Our employees know many of our customers by name, in addition to their favorite donuts and how they like their coffee.
