Reehorst Cleaners was founded in 1936 by Edward and Oda Reehorst in Rocky River, Ohio. The business was incorporated in 1945 with ownership shared between the founders and their sons Owen and Newton. Today the company is owned by Edward and Oda's grandsons, Bob and Dan Reehorst, and has grown to include operations in Rocky River, Bay Village, North Olmsted, and Westlake. We met recently with Operations Manager Becky Wagoner, and listened as she described Reehorst Cleaners' services and commitment to the community;
Reehorst Cleaners has been recognized as a leader in quality dry cleaning for over seventy years. We are a Certified Master Drycleaner holding to rigid standards of excellence and service. In addition to dry cleaning, we offer shirt laundry service, alterations and repairs, feather pillow restoration, bridal gown cleaning and heirlooming, suede and leather cleaning, seasonal storage of your wardrobe, and drapery cleaning with straight seams, even hem lines, and guaranteed length.
Back in the 1930s and 40s we provided home delivery service. As more women began to drive in the years following World War II, demand for home delivery disappeared. By the early 1990s time was at a premium and it seemed like everyone was working until six or seven o'clock in the evening, so we re-started our home delivery service in 1993. We now have three home delivery routes covering from the Gold Coast in Lakewood to Avon Lake and down into Strongsville. Servicing well over 700 customers, our drivers stop by our customers' homes twice each week to pick-up and deliver their dry cleaning and laundry, all at the same costs as we charge in our stores.
One of the most important traits shared by this company and the Reehorst family is our total commitment to the community where we live. We take responsibility not only for the products and services we offer, but also the manner in which we accomplish them. We have a history of adhering to all governmental rules and regulations pertaining to the use and disposal of the chemicals we use, and have worked closely with the State of Ohio in establishing the systems, procedures, and regulations in use by the dry cleaning industry today. Bob and Dan are flexible, compassionate, and understanding, and insist that new employees call them by their first names from the moment they are hired.
Reehorst Cleaners has a decades-long tradition of community involvement. Newt Reehorst was on the school board in Columbia Station for twenty-eight years, and both Owen and Newt have served as President of the Ohio Cleaners Association. We clean the American Red Cross table skirts and banners, have worked the telephone pledge tables for the St. Jude Home in Avon, and support the local schools' music and sports programs. This type of personal involvement makes a difference to each of us who work here, and many of our second, third, and fourth generation customers feel the same way.
Reehorst Cleaners have been voted "Best in the West" for dry cleaners last year, and are striving to earn that distinction again this year. Stop by Reehorst Cleaners today, and don't forget to tell them The North Olmsted, Ohio Community Advocate
