Dave Moore began training his Samoyed in 1970. When he began showing his dog, he also learned how to groom him. Before long Dave found himself training and grooming dogs for friends and acquaintances. He continued to travel 480,000 miles a year as a professional handler showing dogs in almost every state in the country, in addition to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Bahamas. In 1984, Dave retired from the show circuit, and founded Doo the Dog in North Olmsted, Ohio. We visited with Dave recently, and listened as he described Doo the Dog's offerings;

Doo the Dog specializes in professional pet grooming and dog training, and we have a self-service dog wash. We can groom practically any type of dog regardless of size or breed. With our self-service dog wash you can come in and wash your own dog utilizing our towels, water, and shampoo. We will help you get your dog in and out, dried, and whatever you need to make your pet squeaky clean and pretty. I also teach basic obedience, show obedience, and show handling classes. Doo the Dog provides a 15% discount to police, fire, and military families.

When grooming your dog, I strive to make your dog look exactly as you want. From vet grooming to show grooming, we are fully experienced in helping you maintain your dog's appearance. In the late 1990s, I prepared a Cockapoo for Easter by giving him a purple Mohawk. We also groom cats and offer everything from combing them out and giving them a bath to shaving them down. I have groomed ferrets, Angora rabbits, and have even give baths to a pet cougar who was going to appear in a movie.

I supply dogs for American Greetings photography sessions. I have done everything from one or two dogs in the studio to twenty-eight dogs down on the lake for the Golden Retriever calendar in 2001. When they were preparing an Elvis Presley group of cards a number of years ago, I dressed up a Bloodhound in a complete set of clothing with a guitar. The dog wore a wig and a shirt, and had the guitar around her neck. All the clothing and the guitar were custom made to fit.
